Studio Watercolor

Working in the Studio

“Watching paint dry is the pastime of all painters. I like to control the drying of watercolor to create textures and stains that bring out unique qualities in the medium.  These stains and frozen drifts of pigment seen most clearly in my studio work, add content to the work.

Another studio quality is that the controlled environment lets me create intense dark colors which is unusual in watercolor. In addition, I like to balance these studio practices with a more painterly approach and a sense of immediacy. This adds additional depth and layers to my work.”
